Palmer Home for Children is today an independent institution governed by an unpaid, volunteer Board of Governors. But we are proud of our Presbyterian heritage and maintain close ties with Presbyterian and other churches as well as interested friends concerned about family breakup and the plight of fatherless children.

SOS Children's Villages Algeria
The SOS Children's community Al Achour/Draria is 13 kilometres south of Algiers, and is home to over 90 children and their SOS mothers. Additionally, a youth house for the older children means that they can complete their education or training and take their first guided steps towards independence. A nursery is also used by families in the local community while the older children attend local schools. Currently, a further 120 are helped in the community through SOS programmes.
Following the earthquake in May 2003 SOS Children established an emergency aid programme, providing food and temporary shelter and accommodation.
