Amazing Grace Children's Home
Our work in Africa started in 2000, when we were invited to the Anglican Diocese of Maseno South, by Rev Abuto Ogacho and his wife Clarice, to observe the situation and offer ways to help. Once we arrived in Kisumu, we spent time visiting schools, churches, villages and homes. We soon realized the terrible toll AIDS was taking on the Kenyan people and the entire continent of Africa. We knew that God was calling us to action. We began to pray for God to show us how He wanted us to help. God answered our prayers by breaking our hearts for the orphans of Kenya. Upon our return to the US, we formed Orphan Relief Effort, Inc. (a 501c3) and began to offer orphans for sponsorship. We have taken other trips to Kenya and our hearts continue to be with the orphans. In 2004, we purchased land in Awasi, Kenya and began to build the orphanage called Amazing Grace Children’s Home. It is scheduled to open in late December 2005. We have also been involved with other projects in the local area, including improving school buildings, setting up scholarship funds, building churches and teaching Vacation Bible School
