SOS Children's Villages Algeria
The SOS Children's community Al Achour/Draria is 13 kilometres south of Algiers, and is home to over 90 children and their SOS mothers. Additionally, a youth house for the older children means that they can complete their education or training and take their first guided steps towards independence. A nursery is also used by families in the local community while the older children attend local schools. Currently, a further 120 are helped in the community through SOS programmes. Following the earthquake in May 2003 SOS Children established an emergency aid programme, providing food and temporary shelter and accommodation.
