SOS Children's Villages Ivory Coast
In Ivory Coast, about 7% of the adult population is affected by HIV/AIDS and about one-third of all orphans - 310,000 - have become orphans as a result of HIV/AIDS. A large number of children who are infected impedes economic growth; in turn they become HIV positive parents. Working here since 1969, SOS Children supports about 200 children at Abobo Gare close to Abidjan city, and Aboisso, 150kms from Abidjan. SOS Children has SOS medical clinics at both Abobo-Gare and Aboisso helping families and children in need especially those affected by HIV/AIDS - supporting local communities with food, medicine, school fees, setting up self-help projects. http://www.soschildrensvillages.org.uk/sponsor-a-child/africa-child-sponsorship/cote-divoire.htm
