The commission established to inquire into Child Abuse has been given another four months to complete its work.
It should have concluded at the end of this month.
However, it says its investigations are taking longer than expected.
The commission is examining allegations of child abuse in Catholic industrial schools, reformatories and orphanages.
The extension was approved by the Cabinet yesterday.
