I'm a star Trek fan. Maybe that goes without saying since I'm a computer programmer. Got to thinking this morning I wonder if I became a programmer because I watched Star Trek as a kid or started watching star trek because I was destined to be a programmer? Anyway I brought along some DVD's and sat down yesterday and watched one. As I watched them "Beam" the 100th person that episode I got to thinking it would be nice if I could just "Beam" back stateside every now and then.
Been here a little over 2 months I guess homesick was bound to set in eventually it would be dim to think otherwise. Last couple weeks have been tough ones. Nothing moves quickly in India especially on a shoestring budget. Of course we could pay the expedite fee("bribe") and get it all done faster but don't think we are that desperate yet. We have been waiting on the lawyer to get the paperwork filed for the orphanage for almost a month today it looks like we will have to get a new lawyer. Last month we put down a deposit on a hall. We wanted to start teaching some classes but then the hall fell through and we aren't sure we'll be able to get our deposit back. If patience is a virtue if I stay around here long enough my "virtue" will out shine the sun because it seems that patience is all I've gotten for our efforts to date.
On the other side of things Manny is doing fine her checkup with the doctor went well. It appears the baby isn't growing as fast as they would like. It seems Manny is having trouble keeping food down. She's put on weight and is looking much healthier. Manny's Husband has put $12 on deposit with us each week $2 more than the minimum. Things are definitely looking up for them hopefully they will keep going.
Work is work where ever you do it. Working internationally takes some shifting of perceptions though. In the states if there’s a problem you throw hardware or software at it till it is fixed. In India you throw man power at it. I'm still used to the American way so it's going to take some getting used to.
Internet access at the house is still a month away. Hopefully once that is installed I'll be able to keep the blog and the rest of the site updated. My apology to all the orphanages waiting to get their pages posted. I'll get them up as soon as we get internet at home,
We hope to have our next set of girls for Christmas. Pricilla and Beulah are doing fine no signs of Jaundice. They aren’t used to studying though so they are going through a tough time of it. We’ve made it clear that we expect them to prepare for the future not just sit around they are coming around gradually. They have to choose between going to college, trade training or getting a job. They have both chose college at this point we’ll wait and see if they are up to it.
I’ll update again later. Accident count is up to 7 one last weekend in a car when the driver struck a pot hole and spun out of control and one this morning when a guy crossed the center line on his bike and our throttle hands collided. No damage or injury in either.
